Stumbled across this show thanks to DJ Bounce posting a link on Facebook. Ever since 1xtra dropped the decent R&B shows I have been missing a regular fix of good R&B on the Radio and last night I finally found it thanks to Big City Radio.
Broadcasting from my home town of Birmingham – Big City Radio on Sunday is strictly a fresh R&B thanks to DJ Jonnyg the title of the show I can’t remember its a bit of mouthful if I am honest but expect to hear fresh R&B plus a credible R&B chart not washed out with that pop shit #1 this week was Raheem DeVaughn (niceee)!
This track was dropped and I can’t get enough of it at the moment! Will be tuning in on a weekly basis you should to http://www.bigcityradio.org.uk/ – Sundays 10pm-12pm….
If you your a fan of real Hip Hop, RnB, Funk etc etc then get your ears around Funhouse runs Mon-Thurs from 9PM GMT from DJ MK and Harry Love’s “Funhouse”…It’s more than a fun house its a house that only deals with good vibes! Lock in when its live (check @funhouselive on twitter for when your be able to watch live). In the meantime head over to SpineTV to watch some Archives especially DJ Yasmin/TY edition was heavy had me up till the early hours!
Here’s the latest edition from this Wednesday(5th May 2010)…
I first became aware of Giggs when he dropped Slow Songs with Mike Skinner last year. The listen count for Slow Songs must be in the hundreds – I loved it. His album Let Em Ave It drops this summer (signed to XL) and I’m pretty confident it’s going to be big!
I can’t put my finger on why I rate what he does so much? Lyrically isn’t the best the world will ever hear but he’s just got something that I can’t put my finger on? His hooks are addictive which probably helps I’ve been singing “Look what the cat dragged in” randomly for about a week now (people look at me confused obviously!)
Interestingly the album doesn’t include either Slow Songs, Blow or Don’t Go There all fresh material – nice
I never saw this collaboration coming Paloma Faith with Bashy and Adam Deacon join forces for the lead single from the 4.3.2.1 (Noel Clark film) soundtrack. This is damn catchy mainly due to its use of the hook from Suzanne Vega – Tom Diner. I like this….
In my opinion J.Cole is the one to watch – rated his mixtape which dropped later part of last year very highly. This is kinda nice laid back summery vibe!
DJ BOUNCE pointed me in the direction of this the other day listened once rating 5/10. 2nd listen tonight…this is a grower 8/10 one for the clubs – sounding nice for the summer! Shutterbug produced by Scott Storch
